Philip the Arab became emperor after the assassination of Gordian III and is remembered for presiding over Rome’s 1000th anniversary in AD 248. His coinage reflects this celebration with rich symbolism, including depictions of Roma Aeterna and Saeculares Games. Though his reign began with stability, it ended in civil war and defeat. His coins remain sought after for their historical significance and elegant style.
